Scientific Name: Andinoacara stalsbergi, Zuzana Musilova, Ingo Schindler and Dr Wolfang Staeck, 2009. Synonym: Aequidens rivulatus. Common Name: Green Terror, Silbersaum, Silversaum, Silverseam. Geographic Origin: West coast of Peru. Habitat: Coastal rivers, ponds and lakes. Diet: Carnivore. Gender Differences: Male are bigger and there are small color differences. Breeding: Quite easy. Lays eggs on a flat stone or driftwood. Temperament: Can be a little agressive. Not too small a tank, at least 150 litres or larger. Maximum Size: 15-19cm. Temperature Range: 24-26°C. pH: Around 7.0. Water Hardness: Hard.
Comments: A species of the Andinoacara rivulatus group (Musilová, Schindler & Staeck, 2009). It is most similar to Andinoacara rivulatus, with which it shares comparatively large size, the colour pattern of the cheeks and a light vertical stripe anterior and posterior to the rectangular midlateral spot. It is readily distinguished from this species by specific colour characteristics: having a conspicuous white margin in both the dorsal and caudal fin; and on the flanks, scales with light centres and contrasting dark marginal lines forming a fine reticulate pattern. Though omnivorous, they prefer a meatier diet of live food such as small fish, snails and earthworms, but will do well on a quality flake or pellet diet in the aquarium. Generally, easy to breed, the female lays up to 200 eggs which hatch in 2-3 days. The fish is a cichlid, bear that in mind. The tank should be at least 150 litres for a pair. But bigger is better. Decoration with rocks and a lot of bogwood as hiding places. The male can be rough if the female is not ready to spawn, that's why it's good to have hiding places.
